Multipliers: How The Best Leaders Make Everyone Smarter By Liz Wiseman >> Book review and free preview

Genre
Non-Fiction, Psychology, Business, Leadership, Followership, Interpersonal Effectiveness

Publisher
HarperCollinsPublishers

The Book
In Multipliers, Liz presents the results of her research into leadership focusing on the Diminishers-Multipliers continuum.

The book is divided into 9 chapters:

  • It starts with explaining the concepts and laying an introduction to the materials that follow,
  • next, there is a discussion of the various 'multiplier personas' - The Talent Magnet, The Liberator, The Challenger, The Debate Maker, The Investor
  • followed by a discussion of the 'Accidental Diminisher' persona
  • then it moves onto guidance about how to deal with diminishers, and,
  • ends with guidance about how to become a multiplier.

    Rating
Green - without going into the scientific validity of the contents (which I haven't ascertained), the book is one of the best business books I've come across - it presents a completely refreshing perspective on leadership, explains the concepts well and takes it down to a level that is truly actionable. When you end the book, you would know exactly what you need to change - and what you need to do next.

PS: Success of any business book leads to creation of a commercial ecosystem around it - this book is no different - you may want to get involved in that prudently.
